There has been a lot of talk about it - some are insanely praised, others are ruthlessly reprimanded, but everyone is still talking about it. After all, even bad advertising is advertising, right?

Festive night, from September 27th. On September 28, the latest and most anticipated technological "miracle" was launched in Lithuania, and as the manufacturers themselves call it "revolutionary" every year - Apple iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. And yet the iPhone XR.

As every year, new Apple devices are unveiled in September, but the further away the company is, the more disappointing consumers are. And not because the products are bad, ugly or awkward, but because the next time the phone is delivered is almost the same as under a different name and it is definitely more expensive. But let’s start from the beginning.

Name

This year, Apple's new product is called the iPhone XS, the first phone since 2015. with the letter S in the name, the latest models were the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus - and the name should say “ten S”. Apple isn't upset, but we think most people will still call it "iiks" because it's just simpler. The larger iPhone XS model, the iPhone XS Max, and the third phone introduced, the iPhone XR, will look a little different.

What has changed?

Screen

The screen has changed. Some. It got bigger. Not as big as everyone had hoped for (and there were rumors that it would be 100% from edge to edge), but progress is being made. It is only unclear how useful it will be, as the bar at the top for the front camera, speaker and other accessories is still perfectly visible and has not been hidden by anyone. But Apple wouldn’t be a marketing genius if it hadn’t used a screen saver that would hide the edges of the screen so that it isn’t 100% edge-to-edge when delivering the phone. But the fact is - the screen has risen. Unfortunately, on the technical side, the screen is exactly the same as the iPhone X's: Super Retina 5.8-inch diagonal with the same resolution - 1125 x 2436 pixels, 19.5: 9 ratio (458 ppi density).

But don’t despair! iPhone XR Introduces New Screen - Liquid Retina Instead of Super Retina Such a Liquid Retina screen was created by Apple themselves, the only problem is that no one even knows what it is through the screen. And it turns out it’s just an LCD screen, only with a larger number of pixels per inch. Unfortunately, this will not be visible to the naked eye and the use of such a screen is a step backwards for the company, as almost all phones now have OLED (higher quality and better) screens. Just like the phone model itself doesn’t have any, i. of any, special or new features, it will at least have a “hard” screen name.

Size

Again, the size of the phone is unlikely to fit in every pocket - the iPhone XS Max has a diagonal of up to 6.5 inches (which is even 16.51cm).

New Feature – 2 SIM

Finally! Apple has finally created a phone that can even hold two SIM cards! This is the iPhone XS Max. It took them ... only 18 years. The first phones with the ability to use 2 SIM cards in one device appeared back in 2000. But, as they say, better late than never.

However, this is not the only news. By default, in almost all phones, if 2 SIM cards are used at the same time, they are placed next to each other in the device (i.e. there are 2 slots in the SIM card holder next to each other or in different slots). And Apple has designed a new SIM card reader slot that reads SIM cards from both sides, saving space for other parts of the phone.

Resistance

Probably the only good and useful thing that has changed is water resistance. This year's iPhone models will be able to stay underwater for 30 minutes at a depth of as much as 2 meters, while the iPhone X model will only be at a depth of 1 meter. Therefore, if you like to be near the water often, you can be quieter, as removing the phone from the water and drying it well should make it work properly. Apple also shared tests on how it was tested - according to the manufacturer, you will be able to soak your smartphone not only in water, but also in tea, wine or even beer.

But there is one but. Although Apple praises the fact that their new devices are extremely water-resistant, they do not provide a guarantee for wet phones. If you throw the phone into the water, you will immediately pull it out and dry it, but if it does not work for you after that, unfortunately Apple will not help you - the warranty does not cover all liquids. Therefore, when the sage gets wet, it remains to pray that Apple did not lie about resistance.

Battery

No matter how unusual the new iPhone models look, their battery life should delight phone owners. The test compares 5 phones: the iPhone XS, the iPhone XS Max, the iPhone X, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and the OnePlus 6. Their battery life is being checked and it is the new Apple models that are coming forward. Unfortunately, the first one lost last year's iPhone X, followed by the OnePlus 6, the third surrendered the Galaxy Note 9 and only then the iPhone XS. Triumph iPhone XS Max.

When comparing the battery taps of these phones, the results had to be completely different. The Samsung Galaxy Note 9, which ranks a respectable third place, has a maximum capacity of 4000 mAh battery, so considering the parameters, it would have been logical to win this model. The winner of the iPhone XS Max with a capacity of 3174 mAh and a screen with the largest diagonal - 6.5 inches - was also the least likely to win. Bigger screen, smaller capacity - the victory didn't really breathe. The owner of the smallest battery capacity iPhone XS (2658 mAh) became the second. Conclusion - sometimes the numbers lie.

What hasn't changed?

Surface

The surface of the smart - again glass. A glass back plus for the manufacturer - easier to break, more repairs, more money. Yes yes, we understand it looks nicer. But where has the practicality gone? No matter how hard, innovative, or impact-resistant the surface is, it is still glass.

So how much would it cost if the screen or the back of the phone broke and that wasn’t a warranty? It turns out Apple has broken its own record - not only the most expensive phones this year, but also their repair. Here are the repair prices for repairing your phone at an Apple Authorized Service Provider:

Gold or Gold?

The new devices will be available in standard colors - gray, black and gold. You can even choose from 5 new colors for the iPhone XR - black, red, yellow, blue and coral. But it will probably be most worth buying in gold because at least the price is really like a gold phone. Maybe that's Apple's goal to match the price of a phone to the price of a gold bar? And again, for those who will not be able to buy a phone, it will probably not be enough to sell a kidney as the price has risen even more. In Lithuania, the iPhone XS model is available from approximately 1179 EUR, and the iPhone XS Max - from 1279 EUR. Well, if you want more phone memory, like 512 GB, the phones will only cost 1579 EUR and 1679 EUR respectively.

Functionality

In addition to all the same phone features we already know, Apple has reintroduced the Face ID feature. That is - again. There is nothing new in that. It was already there, we’ve seen it, it really didn’t work the way it was presented, so the only news can only be that Face ID will finally work this year. But if it doesn't work, let's wait for the new year and a new miraculously expensive phone.

Camera

Those who like to capture absolutely everything and Apple will always be happy. The new iPhone XS Max camera is definitely better than last year's models. Photos are more natural and brighter. iPhone phones have always had good cameras, but at least for now, they still aren’t comparable to a professional camera.

Headphone jack

Surprise! Apple has still not returned the headphone jack.

Comparison

After reviewing the highlights of the new phones, we recommend iPhone X owners not to rush to buy this year’s news, but to wait until next year or so (or so) for Apple to unveil a truly new and revolutionary miracle that will surely be different both externally and internally. our previous models, so we suggest comparing the new iPhone XS with the iPhone X model and making sure we don’t lie.
