New phone battery will give a second life to your phone
Have you ever wondered how much peace and security a high quality phone battery provides in your life? Drained battery has probably become one of the most annoying things. You’ve probably thought about how good it would be to charge devices as rarely as possible.
While using the phone for a long time, you may notice that the batteries of iPhone, Samsung, Nokia, Xiaomi, LG, Huawei or other phone starts to drain faster than usual or its standby time has become shorter than before.
If you're having trouble and need a new phone battery, below you'll find some tips on how to do it and keep it running longer.
How much does the battery replacement cost?
Battery replacement service is not very expensive, the cost starts from about 10 euros and the price goes higher depending on the phone. But before starting a self-repair of the device, all products usually have a warranty, so check if your phone still has a valid manufacturer's warranty, because if it does, an authorized repair centre usually replaces it free of charge.
If you have a phone that is no longer under warranty, but still needs a new battery replacement it is possible to replace it on your own!
How to replace a battery?
Once you have purchased the required iPhone, Samsung or other phone battery, it is possible to change it by yourself - the difficulty of replacement depends on your phone model.
If, due to the design of the smartphone, cell phone battery replacement is not difficult and there is no need to disassembly the phone (e.g., Samsung Galaxy S5, S4, Note 4, LG G3), just go ahead and replace it yourself.
But there are some phones which require disassembly for the replacement because some lithium batteries are integrated inside the device and are not so simple and easy to remove (e.g., iPhone 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus, X, XS, 11, 11 Pro 12, 12 Pro) so most likely you will need help replacing the battery.
At home, the quickest and most convenient way to find such help is to use the Youtube platform, enter the phone model and the keyword “battery replacement” in the search box, and find various videos there with the help on how you can change it by yourself.
If you have a phone that needs disassembly to replace the battery, save your time and go to the nearest repair shop to do it for you.
How to take care of the battery health?
To keep your phone running well and save power for a long time, without having to charge or even change it often, here are some helpful tips to extend the life of this part with proper charging.
Avoid full charging and discharging
When the phone is fully charged, we are assured that this will allow us to use the device for a longer period of time, but we never think that by actually doing so, we are only damaging the battery and as a result it may serve us shorter.
Never leave your phone charging overnight! Lithium-ion (Li ion) or lithium polymer (LiPo) batteries used in smartphones experience stress when they are charged up to 100% or drained up to 0%. The healthiest recommended battery charge level is from 20% to 80%.
Adjust the brightness of the screen
The screen light is the main source that uses most of the battery life, so to save battery power, we recommend adjusting the brightness to different lighting conditions indoors or outdoors during different time of the day - if you're in a dark room or outdoors at night, reduce the screen light as much as possible, but still comfortable to read easily, thus saving not only the phone battery but also protecting your eyes. It is also advisable to avoid a variety of extremely colorful or high-moving screensavers.
Check which app or gadget uses the most power
Most modern apps, even when turned off, often run in standby mode, so they can still operate or even use the GPS signal. If possible, it is recommended to always turn them off or prevent them from going into standby mode to avoid wasting cell power, e.g. turn off location services if you are not using it at the moment. Power consumption can also be affected by your browsing features - Youtube, TikTok, Facebook or any other similar app of this type consumes more cell power.
Avoid extreme temperatures
Cell phone is designed to operate in different temperatures, but the ideal operating environment is room temperature (16 ° to 22 °C). It is very important to avoid using the device in temperatures above 35 °C, as this can permanently damage the battery capacity.
The software can even limit charging above 80% when the battery temperature is exceeded. Frequent storage in heat can cause irreparable damage to the unit.
When you use the device in a very cold environment, you may notice that the battery life is shortened, but this condition is temporary and returns to normal when the battery returns to normal operating temperature.
How to jump start your dead phone battery?
In fact, some "dead" phone batteries can be recovered. You can find many different ways how to do this on the internet - from wrapping it in an old newspaper to reviving it with special voltage regulating chargers. With time, desire, or equipment, you can try to give a second life to the part, but no one will guarantee its quality.
How to charge a new phone battery?
Since the first mobile phones appeared in the wide market, several rules have emerged that have become more like myths today. Some of the long-known rules are that when you buy a new phone, it must be fully charged and discharged 3 times in a row or charging the phone for the first time for at least 8 hours, or it is best to leave to charge your new phone overnight. Unfortunately, none of these tips today will help improve your phone’s battery condition.
A rule of a very long first charging of the new phone was applied to devices with nickel-lithium (Ni-Li) batteries, but this does not apply at all to lithium-ion batteries. Actually, nickel-lithium batteries are not used in phones anymore, so all of these tips, which unfortunately can still be heard from vendors, should be ignored.
