According to several reports from Reddit, LG is refunding the full amount paid to Google Nexus 5X owners who are unable to use the normal devices due to certain irreparable malfunctions.
It is common for everyone to have their phone serviced after a breakdown and wait a few weeks for the defect to be rectified. But the exception is for LG Nexus 5X owners who complain about a malfunctioning phone. These users get money instead of a tidy phone.
It turns out that the fault can only be resolved by replacing a certain part of the motherboard, and the rules and the manufacturer just can't get these parts yet because they no longer have them. Google stopped distributing the Nexus 5X in stores as soon as it released the new Pixel and Pixel XL. Of course retailers can still find these on the phone, but if anything happens to them they won't be repaired.
Here's a snippet of text from Reddit that the customer received from the service on their Nexus 5X phone
We're sorry to hear you're having trouble with your LG H790 and need to return the device for repair. We cannot fix the phone for you and rectify the current fault because the part manufacturer no longer supplies which is defective
To fix this problem, we would like to offer you a full refund for your phone device. This amount will be determined by your sales receipt, and refunds can take up to 4 weeks
According to the victims, LG is offering a full refund of the retail price for the phone. Obviously, this message will not be bad for customers as they have been using the phone for several months and will be able to upgrade the phone to another.
